Two 22 Twenty 22 intersects a date in time, 2/22/2022 (“Twosday”) with Americus Showcase, America’s Sneakers, Sports, Astrology, Astronomy, USA History, Time, and Coincidence.
Americus Case
Coincidentally, this showcase and its date of purchase provide the exact numbers of our project.
2 Shelves, 22” Wide 20” Deep and purchased on the 22nd of June, 2013.
Enamored by the reverse painted glass that reads, “This case contains Americus Shoes.” We believed an interesting Juxtaposition was Due. Americus was a popular shoe brand made by the shoe maker George D. Witt. On a sunny day outside, “Americus Shoes” was visible a 2nd time as a shadow on the back panel. It has survived for 110 years. It was made by the Joseph Knittel Showcase Company in Quincy, Illinois; their niche being high end store furnishings.
Pictured below: The Joseph Knittel Offices, with the man front right believed to be Joseph Knittel; a scan of the specific model from the company’s 1910 Catalog; the George D. Witt factory. and then the showcase.
America’s Shoes
As shoes come in pairs of 2 and are wildly popular around the world, they are the main draw of Two 22 Twenty 22. In our first unveil, all shoes are original edition.

Julius "Dr. J" Erving
Dr. J’s birthday is 2/22.
Dr. J is the only basketball player to have won championships in (2) Professional USA leagues, the ABA and the NBA.
Dr. J is one of the few players in history to have his number retired by (2) franchises. The Brooklyn Nets (#32) and the Philadelphia 76ers (#6) .
Dr. J inspired the term, “Posterized” which is when the player with possession dunks over the defending player in such a fashion that it warrants being re-imaged on a poster.
His Twitter & IG are @JuliusErving. Below is a birthday reel by ESPN highlighting some of his best plays.
$2 Notes
2 Paragraphs about 2 Dollar Bills
In March 1862, the first $2 bill was issued as a Legal tender note (United States Note) with a portrait of Alexander Hamilton. George Washington (American soldier, statesman, Founding Father and First President of the United States) also appeared on the $2 bill. Our current $2 bill shows the US 2nd Vice President and 3rd US President Thomas Jefferson.
In August 1966, the $2 and $5 denominations of United States Notes were officially discontinued. From 1976 till present day, the reissuance of $2 notes are printed and available. The reintroduction of the note coincided with the United States Bicentennial (200 years after Declaration of Independence).
Note: Besides the current $2 notes, this project owns and is backed by just (1) 1917 $2 Note (Seen above).
George Washington
President George Washington (GW) is often referred to as the “Father of the Nation”. Upon his death, Henry Lee famously eulogized GW, "First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen".
Now let’s highlight GW’s relationship to the number 2.
GW Birthday is 2/22. On 2/22/2022, it will have been 222 years and 2 months since GW passed away.
GW was the 1st President to be elected 2 times, serve 2 Terms and in declining to run a 3rd time he helped establish the 2 Term limit.
While GW did not have any kids of his own, he raised 2 kids from his wife Martha Washington’s previous marriage.
The United States celebrated a Bicentennial for the life of GW during 1932. The country celebrated GW 200 years after his birth. It began on his birthday 2/22/1932 and lasted through Thanksgiving.
After resigning from office in 1797, he enjoyed just 2 years of retirement before dying from a severe throat infection.
